Jay Newman

Jay Newman (February 28, 1948 – June 17, 2007) was a philosopher and Professor at the University of Guelph in Guelph, Ontario.
==Biography==
Newman was born in Brooklyn, New York, the son of Lou Newman and his wife, Kitty. He received his B.A. from Brooklyn College in 1968 before acquiring his master's degree from Brown University in 1969 and his Ph.D. from York University in Toronto, Canada, in 1971.
He began teaching at the University of Guelph in 1971, where he taught until his death. His fields of study (and his 11 books) included philosophy of religion, philosophy of culture, and the ethics of mass communication. He became a Canadian citizen in 1986. In 1995 he was named a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada〔(【引用サイトリンク】 title=Dr. Jay Newman )〕 and he was past president of the Canadian Theological Society. Newman was a lifelong fan of the works of Gilbert and Sullivan and wrote several articles about W. S. Gilbert and the Savoy Operas.〔Newman, Jay.
